Worried citizen, fading morale
They broke the rules
But told me
They want us to feel happy
I still believed
Unrealized dreams, lost hopes
They killed the innocents
But told me
They want us to live long
I still believed
Helpless eyes, stressed folks
They extorted people
But told me
They want us to be rich
I still believed
Scared faces, empty streets
They wreaked havoc
But told me
They want us to feel safe
I still believed
Endless struggle, spiritless life
Thriving poverty, growing injustice
Caught in darkness
One day, my belief grew legs
And walked away

Very nicely written. Great poem!
Thank you for sharing..
man....this is something which shows the situation of so many south asian countries, including India, Nepal,Pakistan
I loved it
I loved the theme and its voice, Deependra ji.
The following lines gave a nice ending!
Caught in darkness
One day, my belief grew legs
And walked away
Keep up your good work!
Enjoyed this poem very much...You have presented our reality in this poem....fantastic
Deependra,
it's a sad day when you stop believing your leaders.I know the feeling well. Say 50 years. Your best option is hear what they say and think the opposite, because that is much closer to what will happen. Believe in yourself and the grace of the Lord. Take care,
- richard
Thank you for this moving and timely poem, Deependra.
Endless struggle, spiritless life

Very well written lines. It's very difficult to accept all these ...but it's fact. I think you have spoken out the common man's voice. I also don't believe anymore...
Wonderful poem! Deependrajee, you have drawn a perfect picture of our frustration.
Wonderful poem with good voice, Deependra Jee..
Very strong expression depicting the limit of our illusion and irrational positivism that finally melts away! Congratulation deependraji for such an impressive creation!
Very nice poem! I liked the way you presented our deteriorating beliefs.
Dear Deependraji,
A real time reflection of Nepal's volatility which has continued for several years. Of course our beliefs and hopes are fading away rapidly with the dynamics of changing environment.
Still, I feel we should keep believing nevertheless this poem is a master piece as par my understanding.
Regards,
Sujit

I am glad to have visited your blog. That's a wonderful poem...very meaningful indeed..."I still believed" - this line carries the essence..no matter what I still believe..and it is not the blind faith, it is the belief that is taken for granted. So in the end it simply walks away...very nicely put!
Nice poem. You know the saying that dog's tail will not be straight even if you try to keep it straight for 12 years. Fate of Nepalese is same because of these politicians. Since 2007BS,"Andolan" started for one or another issue and still continue in Nepal. The country can satisfy need of these politicians but can never satisfy their greed.God knows when people can live peacefully.
I am indeed happy and excited to read the comments. Thank you to all of you for stopping by and sharing your views.
@ Shahid, you are right that the message expressed in the poem probably reflects the prevailing situation of many south Asian countries, including India, Nepal,Pakistan.
I would love to echo Sujit ji's voice that we should not stop believing. It's good to believe and follow the optimistic approach. just wondering if there's an end to our endless belief especially after knowing they (our leader) probably don't deserve it.
Very touching poem..realities exposed !
Nice poem. Keep on writing.
